These terms are the agreement between you and Splitpace. They are written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you agree to it.
Who you are agreeing with
Splitpace is the race-planning service at splitpace.app, operated under that name. You can reach us at contact@splitpace.app about anything in this document, and we would rather answer a question than have you guess.
By creating an account, or by using the planner without one, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use Splitpace.
What Splitpace does
Splitpace turns the paces you enter into a race pacing plan: swim, bike, run and both transitions, connected to a finish time. The planner works without an account and calculates on your own device.
With an account, your pacing plans sync across the devices you sign in on. You can also keep a training calendar, and connect Strava or Garmin to view your own recent activity. Where your AI training partner is available to you, it can propose changes to your plan. What your training partner is and is not qualified to do is set out in the Disclosure.
Some capabilities described publicly are planned rather than built. Anything marked as planned is not part of what you are agreeing to receive today.
Your account
Give an email address you actually control, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. What happens under your sign-in is your responsibility.
Splitpace is built for adults. Training plans and conversations with your training partner assume an adult athlete making their own decisions, so do not create an account if you are under 18.
You can stop using Splitpace whenever you like. Removing your synced copy is in Edit account, under Data & privacy, and disconnecting a connected service is in Connections.
Your plans stay yours
Your pacing plans, races, workouts and the words you write in them belong to you. We store them so the service can do its job — keeping them in step across your devices, and building a plan when you ask for one — and for nothing else. We do not sell them, and we do not use them to advertise to you.
You can export your plans to a JSON file at any time from Plan backups, and that file is yours to keep outside the service.
Fair use
Use Splitpace for planning your own racing. Do not try to break it, overload it, get into other people’s accounts, scrape it, resell it, or work around the limits on how much of it you can use. Do not use it to harm anyone, including yourself.
The service itself — its code, its design, its name and its mark — stays ours. Using Splitpace does not transfer any of that to you.
Connected services
Connecting Strava or Garmin is your choice and it authorizes Splitpace to read the activity data those services make available under the permission you grant. Your use of each of those services stays governed by that service’s own terms, not by ours.
Splitpace never writes to, changes or deletes anything in Strava or Garmin. Disconnecting revokes our access and removes the copies we hold; your original activities stay where they are. The detail of what we import and how long we keep it is in the Privacy Policy.
Your AI training partner and generated plans
Where your training partner is available to you, what it produces is a recommendation, not an instruction. No generated plan and no proposed change reaches your calendar until you accept it, and you can remove any of it afterwards.
Your training partner’s output is produced by an AI model and can be wrong. It is not a substitute for a qualified coach or a medical professional. Read the Disclosure before you act on any of it.
The service is provided as it is
Splitpace is offered as it stands, without any warranty. We do not promise that it will always be available, that it will be free of faults, that a calculation will suit your race, or that any plan will produce any particular result. Features can change, and features can be withdrawn; where a change would lose your work, we will tell you before it happens if we reasonably can.
Keep your own backup of anything you would mind losing. Plan backups exists for exactly that.
Limits on our responsibility
To the fullest extent the law allows, Splitpace is not liable for injury, illness, lost training, a missed race, lost or corrupted data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the service.
Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions, and where that is so, they do not apply to you.
Coaches, athletes and messages
When you coach or are coached through Splitpace, what you write to each other and the training you plan is yours, not Splitpace’s, and so is any advice in it. Don’t use messages to harass, threaten or abuse anyone. Splitpace stops some words before a message is sent, reads a message when someone reports it, and can remove a message, end a connection or close an account that breaks these terms. You can report any message you receive and block anyone, which ends your connection for good.
Suspending or ending access
We can suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, to damage the service, or to harm other people. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will say why and give you a chance to put it right first.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with them and the new version replaces this one. If a change materially affects what you agreed to, we will ask you to accept it rather than assume you have.
